No excuses now its time to draw fans

If everything goes as planned the Icehawks should have former NHLer Bryan Smolinski ready and playing by next weekend's games on Friday and Saturday. Its pretty fair to say, Smolinski isn't coming cheap.

These aren't one of these former NHLer's like Jeff Zehr or Kris Vernarsky who touched the NHL but had no shot at longevity in the NHL. Smolinski is a known name and has played around the NHL. He has totaled 1,056 games played in the NHL, he has 274 goals and 377 assists. Not only is this huge for the Icehawks this is big for the whole league's cred which has took a hit this year with problems in Flint.

But with this great signing coming to Port Huron means expectations are rising big time. Though attendance (minus weekday games) has went up from last season, there is no longer any more excuses with a team that looks almost a lock to win the Turner Cup and now have a known big time player that the building should not have around 2,500 fans on both Friday and Saturday.

The excuses are running out now for the fickle fans of Port Huron. The Icehawks have done everything and then some to answer every request and now its time to show up and watch this team make a run at the Turner Cup.

Right when Smolinski is officially signed the Icehawks need to be pushing it like crazy that he will be playing, make sure everyone that doesn't have the internet knows there is something special going on in Port Huron for once.

I will do my part!

Like silver said, now if we could just get the TH behind us. I would suggest bringing it up to Paul Catanazo, see what he could do.

You've got that right. If the TH could just add a little hype we could have a couple of big crowds this coming weekend!
