Icehawks need a bounce back weekend/new goalie looks good

After going 1-2 last weekend losing to Flint and Fort Wayne both at home and having their first place lead cut to 3 points, the Icehawks will look to bounce back this weekend. First traveling on the road on Friday to Flint to take on the Generals. The Icehawks then return home on Saturday for the only home game of the weekend when they welcome the 2nd place Kalamazoo Wings. Then the Icehawks end the weekend on the road Sunday in Muskegon.

The Icehawks will need to atleast take the first 2 games to maintain a good lead in first place. Championship teams beat the teams they are suppose to and with all that is going on with Flint, that is a team the Icehawks need to take down. Even though Kalamazoo is a tough team the Icehawks need to work on winning big games at home, something they are having a problem doing this year. They have also been having issues lately beating the K-Wings. The Icehawks have dropped the last 3 against them.

New goalie looks like a keeper.

You know when you have a warm fuzzy feeling about a new player without even seeing him in action yet. Sort of like when Larry Sterling came last year from the CHL or Kevin Desfosses earlier this year. That same feeling is back for newly acquired Ryan Mior. The Icehawks have been without a true back up goalie sense Kevin Desfosses left the team back in December but now look to have found one. Mior comes from the CHL as Sterling did last year. Mior had some good numbers posting a 2.63 GAA and a .901 Save%. Mior played his juniors in the QMJHL, the same league Desfosses played in his Junior career. Mior also has some serious creds winning the QMJHL Championship 2007-2008, broke QMJHL record for most shutouts in a season (6) 2007-2008 and most Career shutouts for a QMJHL goalie (14).
