Icehawks can't stop Jacks lose 6-4 The Icehawks were on their 3rd game in 3 nights and it seemed to play a factor as a lack luster 3rd period doomed the Icehawks chances and the LumberJacks took advantage winning by a final score of 6-4 in front of an announced crowd of 988 fans.
The high scoring affair had goals early and often. Both teams exchanged goals through the first 2 periods. The 'Jacks would go first at 1:59 when Chad Woollard got one past an out of positioned Larry Sterling to give the LumberJacks a 1-0 lead.
But the Icehawks would respond quickly at 2:28. Jason Chafe (8) (Jason Selleke, Paul Holder) who scored 2 goals last night would keep his hot streak going when he beat Issac Reichmuth to tie the game up 1-1.
Muskegon would respond when Chad Costello scored at 10:27 to give the 'Jacks the 1 goal lead back. Sterling was unhappy with the goal and received a unsportsmanlike conduct that was eventually killed off.
Jeff Zehr (10) (Selleke, Daniel Tetrault) would tie the game up one more time before the intermission when he scored on the power play. That was Zehr's 2nd goal in as many nights. The teams would go to the lockerrooms locked in a 2-2 tie. Muskegon outshot the Icehawks 15-13 in the period.
Henry Kuster would continue the back and forth scoring in the 2nd period when he gave the 'Jacks the 3-2 lead. But once again the Icehawks would respond right back. Daniel Tetrault (5) (Jamie Carroll, Chafe) took a booming slap shot that found its way past Reichmuth to tie the game up at 3-3 going into intermission. The Hawks outshot the 'Jacks 17-9 in the period.
The back and forth scoring would finally end in the 3rd period. Though not in a good way for the Icehawks. However before things went bad, Derek Merlini (4) (Carroll, Chafe) took a slap shot that banged in off the post to give the Icehawks their first lead of the night. Things would go down hill for the Icehawks from there as the 'Jacks scored 3 unanswered goals from Matt Gens, Maxime Lincourt and Woollard to give the 'Jacks the final 6-4 victory.
