   Port Huron owns Bloomington 5-2

The Icehawks are beginning to enjoy playing the Bloomington PrairieThunder this season, especially in Bloomington. The Hawks are undefeated against the Thunder this season. They continued their success last night with a 5-2 win in Bloomington in front of 2,484 fans.

The key to the success for the Icehawks was using their powerplay to their advantage. The Icehawks had 6 power plays and converted goals on 2 of them.

Jamie Carroll got scoring going for the Icehawks in the first period when he scored his team leading 11th goal of the season from Derek Merlini and Kris Vernarsky that quickly put the Icehawks up 1-0.

Newly acquired Matt Elich would make his presence felt in this game. First grabbing a break away and putting it past Scott Fankhouser to give the Icehawks a early 2-0 lead. Daniel Tetrault and Nick Lindberg had the assists on the play.

Bloomington would chip back in the lead though late in the 1st period when Jon Booras picked up a puck off the post and slammed it past Larry Sterling to cut the Icehawk's lead to 2-1.

The Icehawks would work on extending their lead in the 2nd period. First at 2:40 Tab Lardner (10) scored on the power play with assists from Ian Turner and Jamie Carroll to give the Icehawks a 3-1 lead.

Robert Snowball would give the Icehawks a 3 goal lead at 13:52 when he got his first goal of the season with a fine pass from Derek Patrosso.

The Hawks were able to put the Thunder away in the 3rd period when Matt Elich was credited with a goal from an Ian Turner shot. It was Elich's 2nd goal of the night that gave the Icehawks a big 5-1 lead in the 3rd period.

Don Parsons would however move closer to breaking the all time goal's record in Minor League hockey when he scored with 38 seconds left. Parsons now needs 2 goals to tie Kevin Kerrs record and 3 to break it.
