Winning streak stopped by Alban, Generals The Icehawks 2 game winning streak was snapped last night when they lost to the Flint Generals 3-1 in Flint. The loss dropped the Icehawks 3 points behind Flint, who are currently in 4th place. The Icehawks seemed to dominate the Generals in puck control most of the night and creating scoring chances. The Icehawks outshot the Generals 35-32. But penalties and Flint goalie Chad Alban prevented the Icehawks from getting the win.
The Icehawks started scoring only 25 seconds into the game when Ian Turner scored to put the Icehawks quickly up 1-0. That would be it for the Icehawks though as Chad Alban was dominate for the Generals stopping 34 of 35 shots. Alban is only playing part time for the Generals right now. Alban picked up his first win on the season.
Flint would control the start of the 2nd period getting goals from Greg Bullock (Powerplay) and Josef Fojtik and that was all they would need. Bullock would also add an empty netter to seal the deal at 3-1.
Stan Drulia was kicked out of the game in the third period for arguing with the officials. He also received a 2 minute bench minor which was served by Jason Selleke. Larry Sterling was also tagged with an abuse of officials game misconduct at the end of the game. Flint did not have one penalty called on them in the third period.
Port Huron was 0-3 on the powerplay Flint was 1-7
Larry Sterling took the loss for the Icehawks (2-4) despite looking very sharp throughout the night making some very nice saves to keep the Icehawks in the game. Sterling stopped 29 of 31 shots.
