The Generals then scored an odd goal when Matt Elich put one off of Ian Turners skate that bounced past Desfosses to put the Generals up 2-1. The Icehawks showed signs of last year's team though when newcomer Daniel Tetrault scored his first of the year that tied the game up 2-2.
With exactly 30 seconds left, The Icehawks captain Tab Lardner hooked Kris Mallette in front of the icehawks goal and received a 2 minute penalty which the Generals would capitalize on when Justin Depretis put the Generals up for good with just 14 seconds left with a power play goal in between Desfosses legs.
