Icehawks remain winless, lose to 'Jacks 4-3

It was the home opener for the newly name Muskegon Lumberjacks and their revamped lineup and they didn't disappoint the 3,416 in attendance. First problems erupted in warm ups as Port Huron Icehawk's Rory Smith slashed The LumberJack's Chad Wollard that started a ruckus. Then right off the opening face off Rory Smith and former Icehawk Mike Olynyk went toe to toe.

The Lumberjacks would strike first with the new identity when newcomer Henry Kuster (Maxime Lincourt, Alec Kirschner) scored only 43 seconds into the game.

Jason Selleke would continue his hot start on the powerplay when he notched his third power play goal of the season. The IceHawks would then take the lead when they finally got a goal from someone other then Selleke, Jamie Carroll (Jeff Zehr, Nick Lindberg) that put the icehawks up 2-1.

The LumberJacks would respond when high profile signing Todd Robinson scored his first goal of the night to tie the game up 2-2.

The Icehawks then took the surprising lead when Jamie Carroll scored his second goal of the game to end the first period 3-2 with the Icehawks ahead. That would be the last goal the Icehawks would score for the night giving them 5 goals in the first period on the season and 0 in the second and third periods.

In the second period the Muskegon LumberJacks would tie the game up when Todd Robinson scored his second goal of the night. The former UHL MVP made his presence felt in his comeback to Muskegon eventually notching the winning goal in the third period to put the 'Jacks ahead for good.

Rory Smith would get into another fight in the 2nd period this time with Justin Nattress.

Port Huron was 1 for 3 on the Power Play and Muskegon was 1 for 4. Larry Sterling (0-2) took the loss and made 15 saves on 19 shots. Issac Reichmuth (1-0) made the start for the Lumberjacks and recovered from a rough first period stopping 16 of 19 shots and getting the win.

Three Stars for the game were 3.)Kuster, Henry (MUS) 2,) Jamie Carroll (PHI) 1.)Todd Robinson (MUS)

The Icehawks drop to 0-2 on the season and return to action Thursday when they travel to Flint to take on the Generals. Puck drops at 7:00PM
