Bedard looks to be the real deal The Icehawks seem to have some young talent on the roster this season, something the Icehawks lacked last season. In the 2007-2008 the Icehawks had rookie stand outs Jamie Carroll and Josh Aspendlind help guide the Icehawks to a Turner Cup Finals appearance. Last year the Icehawks lacked that rookie presence throughout the season. The only rookie that made a strong statement was Derek Patrosso. (Derek Merlini was also classified as a rookie but played the year before so lets not count him).
This year the Icehawks seem to have found a gem in Mikael Bedard. Bedard turned pro last season with the LNAH's St. Georges CRS Express, netting 5 goals and 12 assists in 22 games. In his junior career Bedard scored a total of 77 goals in 175 games.
Bedard turned in a strong training camp, receiving high praises each day from Head Coach Stan Drulia and continued to deliver on the ice in the preseason by scoring 2 goals in the 3 preseason games played.
Bedard seems poised to turn in a big year for the Icehawks this season. Something the Icehawks will need losing Carroll, Steve Rymsha and Bryan Smolinski over the offseason.
The Icehawks trimmed there roster down today to 21 players after placing Kevin O'Connor, Steve Natywary, Darcy Rees, Kai Magnussen and Myles Palliser on waivers. The Hawks also released Matt Caranci, Scott O'Connor and A.J. Bucchino from Training Camp Try out agreements. Comments: kevin 10/12/2009 ice hawks go to win the cup is year
